These are the terms your purchase is subject to when you choose to order from this site. I have written them in plain language. If something here is unclear, get in touch.

Who You Are Buying From

Son Gordon Photography is the trading name of Jason Gordon LaRiviere. I am a one-person studio in Vancouver, and I am the only person who handles orders, email and everything else on this site.

Placing an Order

Putting something in your cart does not reserve it. Your order exists once your payment clears, not when you submit the checkout form—until that moment the print is still available to anyone else buying it.

You do not need an account. Checkout asks only for what is needed to price and post your order, and payment itself happens on Stripe’s own hosted page.

Prices and Payment

All prices are in Canadian dollars. Shipping and any tax are shown in your cart before you pay, and the amount on the Stripe page is the amount you are charged—there is nothing added afterwards.

Payment is handled by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe directly and never reach this site, which is why I hold no card numbers of any kind.

If an Item Sells Out

Stock is checked again at the moment your payment has cleared, not only when you add to cart. If something sold out in between—which is possible with small editions—the order is cancelled in full and refunded automatically, and you get an email telling you so. I do not ship partial orders, and I will not hold your money against an order I cannot send.

Editions and Reprinting

Every print is sold as either a limited edition or an open edition, and this distinction is made clear on every print’s product details page, along with its edition size and any artist proofs.

A limited edition is printed to the edition size stated there and is never reprinted once it has sold out. An open edition has no fixed size and is printed in batches as demand warrants.

Every print available for sale on this site is already printed, and kept in inventory in my studio. There is no production delay once you've placed an order.

How a Hand-Made Print Looks

Every print is made by hand in the darkroom, on fibre-based paper, one at a time. Small variations between prints of the same edition are part of that process rather than faults—no two are mechanically identical.

A backlit screen also renders tone differently from paper. I photograph and prepare the images on this site as carefully as I can, but what arrives will not be an exact match for what your monitor showed you. If a print is not what you hoped for, the return policy exists to make things right.

Copyright

Buying a print gets you the print. I keep the copyright for every photograph on this site, and nothing about a sale transfers it.

You are welcome to hang your print, photograph it in your home and share that photograph—I am glad when people do. What you may not do is reproduce the image itself: no copies, no scans or prints made from it, no commercial use, and no use of the photographs on this site for anything without asking me first.

What personal information I collect and who else sees it is set out in the Privacy Policy.

This Website

I run this shop myself and do my best to keep it accurate and available. Where something goes go wrong with an order, what I owe you is putting that order right—not any wider loss that followed from it.

Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have under the consumer protection law that applies where you live. Where they conflict, that law wins.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the laws of Canada that apply in it, and the courts of British Columbia are where any dispute about them belongs.

Changes to These Terms

I may update these terms. The terms that apply to your order are the terms published when you placed it. The date at the top tells you when this version was published.
